Planning
Planning involves the creation of a comprehensive plan with goals, objectives, and strategies aimed at meeting the substance abuse prevention needs of the community. During this phase, organizations select logic models and evidence-based policies and programs. They also determine costs and resources needed for effective implementation.

EBP Position Statement on Strategy Selection
As we approach our next milestone on our SPF SIG journey, we would like to stress the importance of focus in the planning stage. We understand that the process you engaged in to create your community logic model(s) has ignited many ideas for strategies to prevent substance abuse in your community. Although we recognize that a multi-faceted approach is good prevention, we believe that it is crucial to the success of your project that you focus your energy on no more than three total strategies. By limiting the number of strategies that your project will utilize, you will be able to develop a prevention initiative in your community that makes the best use of your resources and serves as the foundation for future successes.
