TASC's mission is to build a communications and offender management bridge between the criminal justice and treatment systems, which have differing philosophies and objectives. TASC identifies chemically-dependent offenders, provides assessments and makes referrals for the most appropriate drug treatment. TASC programs also provide individual and group counseling. Other key functions include case management services, drug testing and helping to get other services like employment, housing and food. TASC case managers work closely with judges, probation officers, jail administrators and treatment providers. TASC assessments are frequently used in pre-sentence investigation reports to inform sentencing judges as to the need, as well as the level of care, for addiction treatment as a condition of community control.

In SFY 2022, TASC Programs had the following accomplishments:

• 5,960 adult and juvenile offenders were served in fifteen counties
• Only 7% of the discharged adults were arrested for a new criminal offense while in the program and only 25 of these participants were committed to DRC institutions
• 42% of the discharged adult clients successfully completed the program
• 64% of the discharged juvenile clients successfully completed the program and only two of them were committed to DYS facilities

TASC operates in Athens, Butler, Clermont, Cuyahoga, Gallia, Hamilton, Hocking, Jackson, Lucas, Mahoning, Meigs, Preble, Sandusky, Stark and Vinton counties.
