Call for Workshop Proposals: 2022 Virtual Peer Support Conference

2022 Virtual Peer Support Conference: Uplifting Resiliency – A Vital Role of a Peer Supporter Call for Workshop Proposals

The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services is accepting proposals for the Peer Support Conference, scheduled for August23-24, 2022. This year’s conference will be virtual. April 7, 2022, a new rule started that expanded peer support certification to include young adults and families. The purpose of this conference is to expand knowledge skill and introduce new innovative ideas for peers to utilize to cultivate recovery. This is a comprehensive opportunity for peers to come together collectively as one body to network, and exchange concepts as it relates to personal recovery, resiliency, and delivering peer services. This event demonstrates the departments commitment to all peer services.

If you would like to submit a proposal to present during the virtual conference, please note the follow important information:

  • Submission Deadline: July 10, 2022

  • All proposals must be submitted electronically to peerservices@mha.ohio.gov

  • All sessions will be 55 minutes in length.

  • Selection of presenters will be announced by July 16, 2022

  • Presenters must submit workshop materials no later than August 19, 2022

  • All presenters must agree to have their session recorded for use on eLearning platforms.

  • Presenters will be encouraged to design their workshop to promote learners feeling comfortable, and to include movement, interaction, and active participation.

    14. Peer Support LGBTQ+

    15. Financial Wellness

    16. Peer Support in a pandemic

    17. Faith - Based Recovery System

    18. Multiple Pathways to Recovery

    19. Resiliency & Relapse

    20. The Culture of Poverty

    21. Opioid Epidemic in a Pandemic

    22. Mobile Response Crisis Team Peer Supporters

    23. Peer Support in Criminal Justice Settings

    24. Incorporating Youth Peer Support into your Agency

    25. Peer Support for Veterans

    27. Navigating Imposter Syndrome and Building Confidence

Proposal Packet Guidelines

Proposal packets must include the following:

  • Presenter(s) resume

  • Presenter(s) brief Bio- not to exceed 500 words per presenter

  • Title of workshop as it will appear in the conference registration

  • Workshop Description, including 3 learning objectives – not to exceed 750 words

  • Identify which of the conference topics your workshop will address (number from above list)

  • Signed disclosure form

  • Additional information needed:

    • Have you presented this workshop before? If so, identify when, where, and to whom.

    • Have you presented virtually? If so, identify when, where, and to whom.

Sessions should be relevant to all levels of learners. Incomplete proposal packets will not be considered.
