>>> New Design for Ohio’s SPF-PFS Initiative Website

The Ohio SPF-PFS Initiative website (https://pfs.ohio.gov/) has a fresh new look and feel. All of the information that is needed can still be found on this clean, mobile-friendly website. SPF-PFS stands for Strategic Prevention Framework Partnership for Success and seeks to increase the access of high need rural areas to evidence-based prevention services by building workforce capacity and prevention system infrastructure.

>>> TFAH & Well Being Trust Report on Substance Misuse and Suicide Crisis

Earlier today, Trust for America's Health and Well Being Trust released the new report Pain in the Nation: The Epidemics of Alcohol, Drug, and Suicide Deaths, the latest in a series tracking the nation’s deaths of despair crisis. This year's report found that deaths associated with alcohol, drugs, and suicide took the lives of 186,763 Americans in 2020, a 20 percent one year increase in the combined death rate and the highest number of substance misuse deaths ever recorded for a single year. An expert panel will discuss the findings of the report as part of a Congressional briefing and national webinar on July 14.

The Ohio Association of County Behavioral Health Authorities (OACBHA), in partnership with the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, (OhioMHAS), Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) and the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation (OSPF), will host Ohio’s 2022 Opiate and Other Drugs Conference June 6-7 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Columbus. This year’s conference will focus on opiates, stimulants, and other substance use disorders, specifically on efforts related to prevention, education, intervention, treatment, recovery, family supports, community engagement, and more. >>> MI/ID Webinar Training Series 

The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS), in partnership with the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DoDD), is pleased to announce a training series that will focus on co-occurring Mental Illness/Intellectual Disability diagnoses. These programs will feature experts from the Mental Illness/Intellectual Disability Coordinating Center of Excellence at Wright State University. Trainings will include a variety of topics. The next presentation in the series will focus on Psychopharmacological Management for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities, and be held on June 14 from noon-1:00 p.m. This training will include presentation and discussion of how clinicians can develop familiarity, understand intended results, and follow guidelines with the use of psychoactive medications with IDD patients. >>> Ohio’s 2022 Recovery Celebration – June 28

OACBHA, in partnership with OhioMHAS, Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Boards from throughout Ohio, and Peg's Foundation, will host Ohio’s 2022 Recovery Celebration: Growing Stronger Together on June 28 from 11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. at KEMBA Live!, an outdoor concert venue in downtown Columbus. Ohio PRO, Ohio Citizen Advocates for Addiction Recovery, NAMI Ohio, and OSPF will also be participating in the event, providing resources for individuals and family members in attendance. We will be celebrating, connecting, and strengthening recovery with empowering speakers, activities, food, and entertainment throughout the day. The event is free, but advance registration is required.
