June 2022 Responsible Fatherhood Month Mini-Grants

In recognition of the importance of involved, committed and supportive fathers, the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood has released a new funding opportunity. The commission will award up to 15 mini-grants to nonprofit organizations and/or government entities that host father-child events in June, Organizations chosen will be reimbursed up to $4,000 for eligible expenses incurred in June 2022. The deadline to submit applications is 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 24. Click HERE for more information and to apply.

School-based Suicide Prevention: Promising Approaches and Opportunities for Research Recording

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) has released a recording of its Jan. 14 webinar School-based Suicide Prevention: Promising Approaches and Opportunities for Research. In this webinar, presenters from Michigan, Massachusetts, and Maryland, described innovative practices in school-based suicide prevention they are currently implementing, with a particular focus on risk identification, follow up, and referral for additional services for high-risk youth. In addition to describing the programs, presenters discussed preliminary research efforts and challenges, as well as ways to overcome common barriers to implementing suicide prevention in schools, including data collection and evaluation.
