Coalition on Homelessness and Housing

COHHIO is involved in a range of housing assistance services in Ohio, including homeless prevention, emergency shelters, transitional housing and permanent affordable housing with linkages to supportive services. COHHIO assists hundreads of housing organizations and homeless service providers in Ohio.

The COHHIO Directory of Services lists more than 900 nonprofit housing agencies and services that help prevent homelessness in Ohio. Organized alphabetically by county, this quick reference guide provides user-friendly information to help people avoid homelessness and find affordable housing.

Transition from Nursing Homes

The State of Ohio has developed several programs to help people who are ready to move our of nursing homes. These resources can point you to information about eligibility and services.

County ADAMHS Boards

County Alcohol and Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Boards have information about local housing resources for individuals with mental illness. Use the Ohio Association of County Behavioral Health Authorities County Board Directory to locate the board that serves your area.

Ohio Housing Locator

The Ohio Housing Locator is an online tool to find apartments and homes for rent throughout the state. Search by zip code, city or county, and use filters for rent amount, number of bedrooms or other needs. The site also contains links to information on rental assistance, fair housing laws, accessibility, homeownership and long-term care.

Ohio Recovery Housing

Ohio Recovery Housing (ORH) is an alliance for individuals and organizations operating quality recovery housing in Ohio. ORH is a state affiliate of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR), which creates and maintains standards of excellence for recovery housing.

Using the Recovery Housing Locator search feature on the ORH website, you can search for recovery housing for yourself or someone else. Results will provide you with a list of options for counties that currently have an ORH Associate. The database is updated monthly.

Residential State Supplement

The Residential State Supplement provides financial assistance to adults with disabilities who can live in eligible community housing. The person must be enrolled in Medicaid and receiving Social Security, SSI or SSDI. The RSS benefit helps pay for accommodations, supervision and personal care services. Recovery Requires a Community

Recovery Requires a Community assists people diagnosed with mental illness to move to and remain in community housing. It pays for goods and services not covered by other funding programs. For more information or to apply, call 614-644-0617.
