The symposiums are for those working with peers, their families, and allies. Aimed toward professionalizing the workforce for Peer Recovery Supporters across Ohio, the goal of "Compassion Fatigue and Self-care: For Peer recovery Supporters, Families, and Allies" will be to provide Ohio Peer Recovery Supporters, Families, and Allies with the understanding, tools, and resources needed to engage in culturally responsive, trauma-informed peer support relationships with anyone, especially those with lived experiences with trauma.
As a participant you will be able to do the following:
- Know the definitions of Secondary Traumatic Stress, Vicarious Trauma, Compassion Fatigue, and Burnout
- Identify the similarities and differences between the conditions.
- Review the signs in personal and professional lives.
- Identify strategies for building resilience and reducing the effects of Secondary Traumatic Stress.
Participants will assess their own STS, learn self-care and early warning strategies and develop a action plan.
