Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment

SBIRT The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) has been awarded a five-year, $10 million cooperative agreement from the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) for a statewide Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral for Treatment (SBIRT) program. The program is designed to reduce morbidity and mortality of alcohol and other drug use through early intervention and the integration of medical and behavioral health approaches.

Funding supports four areas: Service Delivery; Infrastructure Development; Data Collection and Performance Assessment; and Program Administration.
