Licensure and Certification

Beginning July 1, 2021, initial and renewal applications for OhioMHAS licensure and certification will only be accepted through the online Licensure and Certification Tracking System (LACTS). Paper applications will no longer be accepted.

The Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) has statutory and regulatory authority over providers of behavioral services to Ohio consumers. Separate standards apply depending on the type and level of service provided.

Keep current with both Licensure and Certification, and other departmental information by viewing and registering with OhioMHAS NewsNow.

It has recently come to our attention that various entities are offering New Provider Trainings for Residential Facility Class 2 Operators, Owners and staff that are being marketed as endorsed by OhioMHAS. In some cases, these trainings are very costly. Please be advised that OhioMHAS does not endorse trainings that are not hosted by our agency or by your local ADAMHS or MHRB Boards. There are no trainings outside of the First Aid and CPR trainings that you are required to pay for to obtain your Residential Facility Class 2&3 license. If you have any questions about a training that you are taking or paying for outside of OhioMHAS or your ADAMHS or MHRB Board, please contact Sue Tafrate at 614.466.9955 or
