The training, titled A Breath of Fresh Air: Promoting Health-Behavior Change among People with SPMI, is free and offers CMEs and CEUs for health and behavioral healthcare providers in the State of Ohio. Learn to promote, support, and motivate health-behavior change among people with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI), especially those who are not yet ready or interested in change. This six-hour event will highlight the following:

  • (1.5 hours) Stages of change
  • (1.5 hours) Overview of Motivational Interviewing, the evidence-based treatment
  • (3.0 hours) Tobacco interventions, including medications to reduce craving and nicotine dependence
