State Psychiatric Hospital Telehealth

The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services telehealth project supports Regional Psychiatric Hospitals (RPHs) and community providers working together to benefit patient care. The intent of telehealth is to connect patients with their community provider for treatment and discharge planning purposes.  Offering treatment through video conference connection allows patients in our hospital system to become familiar with their community provider and can promote continuity of care.  For community providers, it is a cost-effective method for staff to participate in treatment discussions and planning for their clients.  Telehealth can promote involvement of family members and others who can support the individual's recovery.

Benefits of telehealth

  • Reduces staff travel time while increasing overall efficiency
  • Increases community input into treatment team/discharge planning
  • Supports positive outcomes, reinforces a person-centered approach and assures transition planning to meet patient/client needs
